I had this fierce shoot scheduled to post today featuring Freja Beha Erichsen in Alexander McQueen. When I woke up and read the news, I was deeply saddened to hear that Alexander died yesterday. Reports say that he committed suicide….he was only 40 years old. This comes just a few days after his mother passed away.
I decided to continue with this post and add a short video as a tribute. Alexander made some of the most beautiful and futuristic creations, and was one of the greatest designers of our time. If you subscribe by email and can’t see the video, go directly to Future Hippie.
Happy Friday you sexy people! This weeks featured photographer is Paco Peregrin from Madrid, Spain and the shoot is called “Electricus”. Usually I like a few sets from various photographers, but with Paco I can honestly say all of his work just rocks! I’m especially loving the bright colors in this shoot and the clothes are fierce!
It’s supposed to rain all weekend here so I’m planning on catching up on some reading and hanging out with my honey and my doggies. What are you guys up to?
PS I will be posting a fun contest on Boho Glamour later today so drop by and check it out! 🙂
I’ve been revamping my studio this week into a calming Zen paradise. A tranquil desktop water fountain, bamboo plants and a few colored light bulbs have really transformed it into a relaxing space. I came across my “Fruits” cards and decided they would fit perfectly, so I attached them to 2 metal rods with magnets so I could change the pictures periodically.
I have been fascinated with Japanese fashion ever since the book “Fruits” came out! I love the street wear but have come to appreciate the fashion on the runways as well. In keeping with my theme I decided to post some pics from Japan Fashion Week Spring Summer 2010. 🙂
What do you guys think about Japanese street style? Is it over the top? Tacky? Fabulous? Fierce?
Sorry guys, I’m a little late with Future Friday’s this week. 🙂 My “Handsome” is sick and we’ve been eating chicken soup and watching weird sci-fi movies. Anyway, hope everyone is having a fabulous and sexy weekend so far.
This weeks featured photographer is Massimo Mantovani from Capri, Italy and his shoot is called Party Dolls. I love it because it’s playful and sexy at the same time. Bellissimo!
I’ve been missing N.Y.C. lately and thought it would be therapeutic to blog about it. I found this awesome photo shoot called “New York Dolls”from a 2009 Vogue and was totally inspired! I broke out my Trash & Vaudeville shirt (pictured below) and started to make tentative plans to journey back to the city. 🙂
If you’re not familiar with Trash and Vaudeville, it’s probably the most awesome store in Manhattan…next to Pat Field’s, of course! They have been around since forever and carry a huge selection of punk T-shirts, hard to find shoes, and rock-n-roll fashion like Lipp Service and L.A.M.B.
After a massive shopping session at “Trash”, I always venture over to The Yaffa Cafe for a nice glass of wine and a delicious meal. Yaffa is also located on St. Marks Place and is open 24hrs. Great for those late night meals after the clubs and you’ll always find a wide variety of people from hipsters to drag queens!
If you make it to the big apple and want to do something out of the ordinary, I highly recommend a visit to these fabulous places. You won’t be disappointed! 🙂
I have to admit Alexander McQueen has been hit or miss for me over the years, but when I saw this collection I kinda freaked out! Many designers are doing psychedelic prints this coming Spring / Summer 2010 season but Alexander takes it to a whole new level.
The prints are insane and the shoes……the shoes……i think they may come from another planet!
I’ve been wanting to post about Pam Hogg for some time but have been super busy…..SO….here are a few pics from one of my fav, strange yet fierce designers!
Pam is from the UK and has been designing since the 80’s. She recently put out a line and has been dressing everyone from Kelly Rowland to Peaches. Included in the new repertoire are some insane leggings that make me want to flail about wildly whist listening to the Klaxons.
Thanks to everyone who comments, subscribes or reads Future Hippie. You make me smile 🙂
Hope you guys had a great holiday! I’m blowing out all of the vintage in my Future Hippie store! EVERYTHING in the store is $20.00 or less. Several pieces are priced for resale, if you have your own shop. I’m doing this because I simply have way too much vintage that has been collected over the years and it’s time to share the love! 🙂 After the sale Future Hippie will have a whole new look….carrying mostly psychedelic and neon clothes from the 1960’s through the 90’s.
I also have a new vintage clothing shop opening called Hippie Couture. This shop will be a mix of high end couture and super one-of-a-kind psychedelic treasures from the 60’s and up. This new shop will be up and running very soon! Be sure to bookmark it! 🙂 ♥
Here’s a look what’s happening at Future Hippie…… Love All Around, Cara Mia
Yay, it’s Friday! What are you guys doing this weekend? I think I’m going to head to the beach before the cold weather officially kicks in…..maybe a little shopping….the world is mine!!! Sorry, I just had a “Dr. Evil” moment. 🙂
Anyway, this weeks featured photographer is Jasper Huang. The photos are super cool and futuristic, but I especially love how Jasper manages to give the brightest colors a dark, almost sinister vibe. Maybe I’m just excited about Halloween…who knows? Either way, the pics are….yes…..say it with me….FIERCE!
Here’s a few pics from the Versace store in Milan. Kind of reminds me of candy….this stuff looks good enough to eat!
The Spring 2010 Fashion show is pretty fierce so I figured I’d post that too. 🙂 If you subscribe by email and can’t see the video, go directly to Future Hippie.
Love All Around, Cara Mia♥
***PS I just wanted to say thank you to Allie of Hot Robot! I won a giveaway she had on her blog for a cool scarf and I’m so excited! I haven’t had a chance to take pics but I will very soon. Anyway, thanks Allie for hosting the giveaway….you rock! 🙂
