T Style 2009 photo shootIt’s a supermodel festival! Check out Coco Rocha, Heidi Mount, Karlie Kloss, Liya Kebede and Paolo Roversi for T Style. I love the super bright colors and the vibe that is a little bit hippie, but also futuristic and fashion forward.

Speaking of futuristic hippies 🙂 Coming soon in the Future Hippie Shop……a whole new look! Right now everything in the shop is $20.00 or less. I’m making room for new vintage clothing which is focused more on neon, bright prints and some of the styles you see on this blog. I will keep you guys updated as thing progress.

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on Future Hippie! I love to hear your thoughts and visit your sites as well. 🙂

Japan Fashion Week Spring Summer 2010 + My Zen Project

japan fashion week spring summer 2010I’ve been revamping my studio this week into a calming Zen paradise. A tranquil desktop water fountain, bamboo plants and a few colored light bulbs have really transformed it into a relaxing space. I came across my “Fruits” cards and decided they would fit perfectly, so I attached them to 2 metal rods with magnets so I could change the pictures periodically.

I have been fascinated with Japanese fashion ever since the book “Fruits” came out! I love the street wear but have come to appreciate the fashion on the runways as well. In keeping with my theme I decided to post some pics from Japan Fashion Week Spring Summer 2010. 🙂

What do you guys think about Japanese street style? Is it over the top? Tacky? Fabulous? Fierce?

FUTURE HIPPIE’S Massive Sale! All Vintage Clothing under 20 Dollars!

future hippieHi everybody,

Hope you guys had a great holiday! I’m blowing out all of the vintage in my Future Hippie store! EVERYTHING in the store is $20.00 or less. Several pieces are priced for resale, if you have your own shop. I’m doing this because I simply have way too much vintage that has been collected over the years and it’s time to share the love! 🙂 After the sale Future Hippie will have a whole new look….carrying mostly psychedelic and neon clothes from the 1960’s through the 90’s.

I also have a new vintage clothing shop opening called Hippie Couture. This shop will be a mix of high end couture and super one-of-a-kind psychedelic treasures from the 60’s and up. This new shop will be up and running very soon! Be sure to bookmark it! 🙂 ♥

Here’s a look what’s happening at Future Hippie……

HOT TRAX Bat For Lashes

natasha khan bat for lashesOne of my favorite “Nouveau Hippies” right now is Natasha Khan also known as “Bat For Lashes“. Her voice has an ethereal quality and the music is sexy and captivating. She loves to dress up and her favorite things include glitter and peacock feathers….a girl after my own heart!

Here are a couple of videos, the first one is off her debut album called Fur and Gold, and the second one is a Nylon TV interview with Natasha. She has a newer album out called Two Suns which is equally as fierce!

If you subscribe by email and can’t see the videos you can go directly to Future Hippie to check them out. 🙂

Back to the Future with Phard!

Phard Catalog
I’ve been super busy this week sorting my vintage clothing that is getting ready to go up in the Future Hippie Store and also giving my own closet a much needed once over. As I was digging through the never ending piles of stuff, I came across this large Five Star Binder simply marked “Fashion”.

As I unzipped the folder, piles of articles from foreign fashion mags and catalogs from my travels, fell gently to the floor. I discovered one in particular that brought back memories of late night dinners in restaurants tucked away on side streets, and mid day espresso breaks at the local cafe.

The mini-magazine is from Phard, I had picked it up during a shopping excursion on the Via del Corso in Rome several years back. As soon as I flipped it open I knew I wanted to post about it! The pics are bright and fun, everything I think the future is going to be, even though it was shot in the past.

Phard is still around and as fierce as ever! The photographer that shot the catalog is Stefano Bidini who is also still rockin’ some fabulous campaigns. Below are a few photos from the catalog, and the streets of Rome from that trip. I will put up more pics as I scan them in. 🙂

Ciao bella!

Welcome To Future Hippie!

future hippieSince this is my first post on Future Hippie, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite pics from my inspiration folder and give you a quick idea of what’s in store.

My name is Cara Mia. Some of you may know me from my blog Hippie Couture which focuses on fashion, art, music and culture from the 1960’s and 70’s, and how it relates to today’s trends. While still giving a nod to the past, Future Hippie is more about the “nouveau hippies” and the trendsetters of the future.

The next generation is bright and all about color and individuality! It’s about self acceptance, expressing yourself through your creative endeavors and being kind to others. The future is fun! And this is what I hope to share with you though this blog. 🙂

Thanks for droppin’ by! Leave a comment and share your ideas and blogs with me. Who are some of your favorite “future hippies”?
